Why Support CalArts?
CalArts stands at the forefront of artistic experimentation and innovation. The ideas, observations, inventions, and achievements of CalArts faculty, students, and alumni shape the arts and culture of Southern California, the nation, and the world. Your gift to CalArts is an investment in the next generation of visual and performing artists, allowing them to develop their talents, pursue their dreams and ultimately to enrich our lives.
As an independent arts college, CalArts relies heavily on tuition for its operating funds. However, tuition covers only 61% of the cost of a CalArts' education and currently 82% of students require financial assistance. Your generous gift - in any amount - will help to bridge these significant gaps.
WAYS TO SUPPORT CALARTS
Annual Fund - area of broadest potential
The Annual Fund is an important source of revenue for the Institute's operating budget and provides unrestricted financial support for CalArts' most pressing needs. Your gift will benefit areas such as scholarships and financial aid, project supplies, facilities and equipment, faculty development, library resources, and program costs.
Schools
You may designate your gift to benefit one of our six schools - Art, Critical Studies, Dance, Film/Video, Music, and Theater - providing much-needed discretionary funds to support student projects and showcases, artists' tools, tuition assistance, and student emergency completion funds.
CAP
The Community Arts Partnership (CAP) is a nationally recognized model for community-based arts education for young people. Through CAP, CalArts shares its artistic and teaching expertise with thousands of students by partnering with prominent arts centers throughout Los Angeles County. CAP unites CalArts with pre-collegiate youth for intensive, college-level arts training and skills development in all of the art forms taught at CalArts.
REDCAT
The Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater (REDCAT) - part of the Frank Gehry-designed Walt Disney Concert Hall - is a home for cutting edge work in all the arts and a platform for bringing ongoing artistic exploration and the work of community-based artists to new audiences in Los Angeles. You may designate your gift toward REDCAT construction or arts programming.
If you live in the greater Los Angeles area and would like to socialize and network with fellow arts enthusiasts while enjoying behind-the-scenes access to today's most prominent artists, consider one of CalArts' membership organizations:
Friends of CalArts
Friends of CalArts (FOCA) offers its members intimate, exclusive events throughout the year- either in a private home or at a major arts venue in the Los Angeles area — that provide engaging conversation on the visual and performing arts. Annual dues of $2000 are used entirely to support student scholarships.
CalArts Connection
CalArts Connection is the arts and culture network of the Santa Clarita Valley, committed to organizing prestigious and culturally enriching programs for local community, civic, and business leaders. Annual dues are $500 for individuals and $1000 for businesses.
